Nadal’s two overwhelming wins in back-to-back tournaments over the best Swiss players in history. The Spaniard even got the same number of points in each of those two finals: 59. He needed 71 minutes to beat Wawrinka and 69 minutes to dismiss Federer… Wawrinka’s second Masters 1K final, the first one since Rome 2008. My description of the Rome final.

Nadal’s routes to the titles:
2 Benoit Paire 6-3, 6-4
3 Mikhail Youzhny 6-2, 6-3
Q David Ferrer 4-6, 7-6(3), 6-0
S Pablo Andujar 6-0, 6-4
W Stanislas Wawrinka 6-2, 6-4
==========================================
2 Fabio Fognini 6-1, 6-3
3 Ernests Gulbis 1-6, 7-5, 6-4
Q David Ferrer 6-4, 4-6, 6-2
S Tomas Berdych 6-2, 6-4
W Roger Federer 6-1, 6-3

Nadal was two points away from defeat to Ferrer in Madrid (*5:6, 15/30 in the 2nd set when miraculously won the point) and six points away vs Gulbis in Rome (at 4-all, 15/30 in the decider)
