  1. Voo de Mar says:
    Points won by each set: | 26-16, 51-50, 25-19 |
Points won directly behind the serve:
    13 % Connors – 12 of 89
    22 % Noah – 22 of 98

Connors slightly twisted ankle already in the 2nd game of the final. It didn’t bother him too much having easily beaten the Frenchman in their four previous encounters. In the 2nd set, Noah trailed *1:3. In the tie-break he saved match point at 5:6 with a service winner. “I had the feeling they were a little lost out there,” said Noah. “Some of the calls were kind of slow. You lose your concentration. I tried to play my game, which is serving hard and charging the net. But when I would hit it hard and rush the net, he would hit it past me.” Connors’ match against Higueras lasted 3 hours 15 minutes!

Connors’ route to his 102nd title:
    2 Glenn Michibata 6-2, 6-3
    3 Bob Lutz 6-1, 6-2
    Q Tim Mayotte 6-2, 6-1
    S Jose Higueras 6-7(3), 6-0, 7-6(5)
    W Yannick Noah 6-2, 6-7(7), 6-3
