   The only ATP final in Odesnik’s [100] career, while Hewitt wins 27th title, but only the second one on clay (Delray Beach ’99). It’s Hewitt’s first title in two years, interestingly the same day his first tournament in six years won other former No. 1 in the world – Juan Carlos Ferrero (Casablanca). Hewitt [88] led *3:0 (40/30) in the 2nd set after 62 minutes of play, and what seemed like a possible 10-minute work ahead of him, lasted more than an hour, and the Australian fought back from a 3:5 deficit. “[It’s been] a while coming, so it feels great,” said Hewitt. “It’s always nice to get back in the winner’s circle. This is what the hard work is for, to play weeks like this and to have this kind of feeling at the end of them. It makes all the hard work and gone through the surgery all worth it, so it’s a good start to the year now.”

   Almost exactly five years later Odesnik was handed a 15 year ban after a second doping violation, which virtually finished his career at the age of 30 (he had been banned the first time for a year in 2010 – importing human growth hormone into Australia)
