  1. Voo de Mar says:
    Points won by each set: [ 40-36, 31-23 ]
Points won directly behind the serve:
    17 % Federer – 11 of 64
    24 % Murray – 16 of 66

Federer [3] won that match thanks to his superior skills all over the court because he didn’t get too many cheap points on serve what could be expected from him on the fast surface in Dubai. Murray [4] led in respective sets 5:4 and 4:3, dropping the final three games twice; earlier had a 3:2* (40/15) advantage in the opener when he made two casual baseline errors. “I think second set he played better than me,” said the Scot. “For sure I made a few too many mistakes in the second, and he was playing a lot more aggressive than in the first set. But overall it was a good week. It was perfect preparation for the stretch over in America.”

Federer’s route to his 72nd title:
    1 Michael Llodra 6-0, 7-6(6)
    2 Feliciano Lopez 7-5, 6-3
    Q Mikhail Youzhny 6-3, 6-4
    S Juan M. Del Potro 7-6(5), 7-6(6)
    W Andy Murray 7-5, 6-4

    # Comparison of their two matches with identical scorelines (& time):
    Cincy 2006 (2R): Murray d. Federer 7-5, 6-4… 1 hour 37 minutes… Total points: 75-69… Breaks: 7-5
    Dubai 2012 (F): Federer d. Murray 7-5, 6-4… 1 hour 37 minutes… Total points: 71-59… Breaks: 2-1
