   Henman was playing his first ATP final (in 38th main-level event). In the 1st set the Brit [29] led twice with a break and squandered a double break point at 4-all. Courier [26] broke back also in the 2nd set, but couldn’t win in straights despite a 5:4* lead & also 5:4* advantage in the tie-break. The inexperienced Henman lost his concentration at the beginning of the 3rd set, and quickly found himself at 0:4. “I gave my 100 per cent. It was a high quality match” said the 22-year-old runner-up. Courier’s lone appearance in the Qatar Open.
