  1. Voo de Mar says:
    Points won by each set: | 25-22, 21-32, 38-27, 45-40 |
Points won directly behind the serve:
    33 % Darcis – 41 of 124
    31 % Delbonis – 40 of 126

The most important match (perhaps the most satisfying weekend) in career of the Belgian that lasted 3 hours 12 minutes (8-minute toilet break after the 3rd set). Delbonis [65] was four points away from taking a two-sets-to-one lead as he led 5:4 – Darcis [64] held at ‘love’. The 31-year-old Belgian led 4:2* (40/0) in the 4th set, but the Argentinian avoided a two break deficit with good serving. Two games later Darcis led 5:3* (30/0), then squandered two match points on serve at 5:4, but held to ’15’ at 5:6. Darcis had exceptionally good tie-break record at the time, given his average status in men’s tennis (51-35… 59%), and took advantage of it as he played his only offensive lob to produce a quadruple match point, and converted his fourth opportunity with an overhead, sending Belgium to its first Davis Cup final since 1904! “It’s one of the biggest moments of my career, that’s for sure,” said Darcis, “If you told me 10 years ago we would play a final in Davis Cup I would not believe [you]. The atmosphere was unbelievable. You know, this stadium is so famous in Belgium. For our small country it’s pretty big”. The new Belgian hero spent over 11 hours in the 8000-capacity arena during the weekend (3:52, 4:00, 3:12)!
