18 out of 30 games included to the stats (the entire first set)

The Lendl-Mayotte rivalry it’s one of the most one-sided H2Hs in the Open Era. The Czech won all their 17 meetings, after Dallas it was just 7-0. The key to this huge difference lay in tighter sets: Mayotte lost all 13 sets when they found themselves at 5-all! In the Dallas final Mayotte [16] saved a set point before the tie-break in which he led 3:1*, but at 3:2 broke the strings at his first serve which landed out, and lost his confidence (immediate double fault). The only break of the 2nd set came at 4-all, before that Lendl [2] had held six times not dropping a point!

Lendl’s route to his 45th title:
Q Stefan Edberg 3-6, 7-6(8), 3-6, 6-1, 6-2
S Jimmy Connors 6-3, 2-1 ret.
W Tim Mayotte 7-6(4), 6-4, 6-1
