   Sixth & last meeting between two “hulks” with similar styles of play. Soderling [5] was far superior from the back of the court at the time and he did what could have been expected from him – won it pretty easily. Even though the tournament was held in semi-indoor conditions, heavy rain caused some droplets on the court – spectators witnessed a 10-minute stoppage at 4-all in the 2nd set & Roddick’s [8] frustration: “I said [to chair umpire Fergus Murphy] as soon as you see half of the stadium with umbrellas up it doesn’t take a rocket scientist to figure out which way it’s going.”

   Soderling’s route to his 7th title:
