   One of many Federer’s clinical performances in years 2004-2007. Thanks to that victory he secured himself the No. 1 ranking for the fourth consecutive year. “It’s always emotional at the end,” Federer said. “I remember being here as a ball boy myself. I started to play better in the second but it wasn’t good enough. I had too many unforced errors. Roger is tough when it gets tight.” Before the final Nieminen won back-to-back matches saving match points (Ginepri, Canas) which is unique – amazingly he repeats that feat in Montpelier 2011 (Serra, Gasquet)!

   Nieminen belonged to Federer’s whipping-boys. They played 15 times against each other, and the Finn managed to win just one set out of 31 (Basel 2011). After that final meeting in 2007 Federer led 8-0 in their H2H (it was their second final, the first one in Munich ’03 Federer won with similar ease)
