Rafter [4] notched his best Aussie Open result in 2001 (semifinal), but he was the main favorite to claim the title two years earlier, after withdrawal of Sampras & Rios (two best players of 1998). He played really good match in the third round, but Enqvist [21] was simply on fire then. The Australian played only 3 weak service games out of 20, but the problem was that he lost his serve every time Enqvist created break points, and it happened in three different sets of that 2-hour 33-minute encounter. The Swede faced 6 out of 7 break points in the 2nd set when he committed 6 out of his 9 double faults. He was in troubles for the last time serving at 4:3 in the 4th set, led 40/15 to save a break point.
