  1. Voo de Mar says:
    Points won by each set: | 31-26, 47-44, 25-12 |
Points won directly behind the serve:
    52 % Becker – 48 of 92
    29 % Kafelnikov – 27 of 93

The match was played in [4] Becker’s beloved conditions – indoors. He found his great service rhythm at the start and kept it to the end, many times delivering 2 or 3 aces in a row. Actually it was one of his best service performances ever. Nonetheless, Kafelnikov [6] had some chances to level at one set apiece – in the 2nd set he led 6:5* (30/0) – Becker’s FH volley – and 5:1*, 7:6, 9:8 in the tie-break – Becker fought off the set points with service winner and ace to finish it 11/9 attacking the net. The 22-year-old Russian began the 3rd set completely discouraged to find himself at *0:5 in the blink of an eye.
