  1. Voo de Mar says:
    Points won by each set: [ 29-15, 34-29, 43-43, 41-34 ]
Points won directly behind the serve:
    31 % Federer – 39 of 122
    22 % Murray – 33 of 146

Federer [6] squandered a double match point in the tie-break which he lost 6/8 (led 5:2), he was earlier serving to win the match at 5:4 not facing a break point before. The 4th set was very long because Murray held for 1-all after ten deuces (saved six break points) and for 3-all after three deuces (another BP saved). If the Swiss had closed it out in the tie-break, it would have been the repeat of the scoreline they co-created on the same court in the 2010 final. Federer’s 14th victory in a match he lost a set having match point(s), in turn Murray for the first time lost a match winning an MP-down set. # Two years before Federer also defeated Murray in a 4-set match which lasted almost the same amount of time and a 10-deuce games was required as well.

    # Comparison of their two 4-setters:
    Wimbledon ’12 (final): Federer d. Murray 4-6, 7-5, 6-3, 6-4… 3 hours 24 minutes… Total points: 151-137
    Aussie Open ’14 (QF): Federer d. Murray 6-3, 6-4, 6-7, 6-3… 3 hours 20 minutes… Total points: 147-121
