   [14] Youzhny’s second attempt to win a major semifinal, just like four years before it happened in New York. The Russian had defeated Nadal in the US Open quarterfinal ’06, but four years later he was basically still the same player, while four years younger Nadal [1] improved almost every aspect of his game, especially the serve, and the match was completely different. The Spaniard was on his way to win his third successive Slam – arguably the best period of his tennis life. In the 2nd set he took a medical time-out to his left foot as he led 3:2. In the 3rd set Youzhny trailed *2:4, but had a game point to lead 5:4. Nadal served out the match within a minute with a bunch of very good serves.
