   The 24-year-old players entered that semifinal with 2:2 in their H2H rivalry. Roddick [10] led 6:5* (30/0) in the opener, he was two points away from taking the set also at 5-all in the tie-break. In the 3rd set, the Russian [54] came thrice within four points to build a 2-1 advantage in sets, as he led 5:4 & 6:5 Roddick held at ‘love’ though. The American took five points in a row trailing *2:3 in the tie-break, and got the decisive break leading 4:3 in the 4th set. Youzhny saved a triple match point in the following game after spectacular rallies, yet Roddick finished him off with an ace & volley (2 hours & 45 minutes)… Youzhny will play his second & last major semifinal also at the US Open, four years later.
