  1. Voo de Mar says:
    Points won by each set: | 30-17, 39-36 |
Points won directly behind the serve:
    44 % Djokovic – 27 of 61
    22 % Blake – 14 of 61

It was a sleepy Olympic encounter, each of them was close to play the Gold Medal match (Blake closer), so they were almost making an impression neither wanted to be on the court just a day after a heart-breaking semifinal loss. Djokovic broke at 2:1, and went through the match not being seriously threatened on his own serve. Admittedly Blake [7] had his lone break point at 1:0 in the 2nd set, but Djokovic fought it off quickly with a kick serve. His serving variation was terrific, Blake couldn’t do too much as a receiver. In the 7/4 tie-break, only one mini-break made the difference, at 4-all when Blake netted his backhand in a long rally. “I’m very, very happy. I mean, to win any medal in the Olympics is a huge achievement for any athlete I think,” the 21-year-old Djokovic [3] said, “Not many athletes get a chance to win a medal. But for me, this bronze, which I won here, shines like a gold because I think I’ve played all tournament pretty good tennis.” Well, he won more total points in the lost semifinal to Nadal. He patiently waited 16 years to get the Gold medal.

[SRB] Djokovic’s route to the Bronze medal:
    1 Robby Ginepri [USA] 6-4, 6-4
    2 Rainer Schuettler [GER] 6-4, 6-2
    3 Mikhail Youzhny [RUS] 7-6(3), 6-3
    Q Gael Monfils [FRA] 4-6, 6-1, 6-4
    S Rafael Nadal [ESP] 4-6, 6-1, 4-6
    3rd place: James Blake [USA] 6-3, 7-6(4)

    Serve & volley: Djokovic 0/1, Blake 1/1
