  1. Voo de Mar says:
    Points won by each set: | 30-15, 28-16 |
Points won directly behind the serve:
    37 % Zverev – 14 of 37
    19 % Humbert – 10 of 52

The last event played at Paris-Bercy (Accor Arena) where it was held since 1986. The first and the last edition won Germans, in the finals facing unexpected opponents. A year before Zverev and Humbert played perhaps a match of the tournament in the second round (6-4, 6-7, 7-6), this time from start to finish Zverev’s advantage was unquestionable. He [3] advanced to the final winning four matches rather easily (one set dropped) while Humbert [18] needed to play five matches, surviving three by a margin of two games – I’d say it was a decisive factor of the boring final; the Frenchman doesn’t belong to the fittest players on tour, and he hits the ball with very low net-clearance, so the fractions of a second when he is too late to hit it, decide he makes mistakes. “I knew I had to play like this to win today,” said Zverev, “Ugo is an incredible player, but here in Paris, he plays even better than he usually does and I knew that. Once the crowd gets involved, it’s going to be difficult. So, I had to take that away early, and I did, so I’m happy about that.” The defending champion Djokovic and the best player of the year Sinner withdrew due to different reasons which certainly opened the draw and helped Humbert a bit to play the biggest final of his career thus far, but credit to him for eliminating Alcaraz 6-1, 3-6, 7-5 in the third round, taking advantage of the fanatical home crowd. Three years ago Zverev won a Masters 1K final (Cincinnati) also collecting 58 points in total.

    Zverev’s route to his 23rd title (7th Masters 1K):
    2 Tallon Griekspoor 7-6(2), 6-3
    3 Arthur Fils 6-4, 3-6, 6-3
    Q Stefanos Tsitsipas 7-5, 6-4
    S Holger Rune 6-3, 7-6(4)
    W Ugo Humbert 6-2, 6-2

    Serve & volley: Zverev 0, Humbert 1/1
