  1. Voo de Mar says:
    Points won by each set: | 40-43, 28-21 |
Points won directly behind the serve:
    30 % Henman – 21 of 68
    25 % Federer – 14 of 54

The last defeat in [3] Federer’s career he could be called a “serve-and-volley” player. He was 22 at the time, already a Wimbledon champion, but soon afterwards he understood that in order to conquer the biggest hardcourt titles he’d need to modify his tactics. In the opening set he looked better than Henman [31] but at 6:5* he wasted two set points having good positions during rallies to win each point. In the tie-break he led 3:1, but lost it 5/7. Henman collected the last five games without any troubles… A day before the Henman match, Federer survived the tightest 2-1 match of his career surviving a three-tie-break contest against Verkerk (3/7, 14/12, 8/6) saving match points in two tie-breaks (all three MPs in the second tie-break with serve-and-volley actions).

    Serve & volley: Henman 10/12, Federer 13/27
