   Eight years after Rios defeated Siemerink, another Chilean-Dutch meeting in the Dutch Open final on clay, and again a straight set win for the South American player against a local favourite. Sluiter [72], similarly to Siemerink, played two competitive sets, for Simerink it were sets 2 & 3, for Sluiter sets 1 & 2. There was 4-all in the opener when Massu [73] took two games in a row at ‘love’. In the 2nd set there was only one break point, Sluiter had it at 3-all, Massu erased it with a second serve ace… Sluiter lost his all four ATP finals, each of them in the Netherlands, the local support always elevated him.
