Points won by each set: | 33-23, 25-17 |
Points won directly behind the serve:
31 % Youzhny – 15 of 48
24 % Lacko – 12 of 50
Pretty boring match, the first of two finals in Lacko’s [97] career. Youzhny [39] controlled it throughout, his dominance was especially visible in the course of sets when he collected 13 straight points. Once he got a break in the 2nd set he only focused on his own service games and converted the first match point with a backhand winner from the ad-court box. “This was my best match of the tournament,” Youzhny said. “I gained some confidence here but I don’t want to think about whether I will be in the top 10 again or not.”
Youzhny’s route to his 8th title:
1 Sergiy Stakhovsky 6-4, 7-6(4)
2 Grega Zemlja 6-1, 6-3
Q Ivo Karlovic 7-6(10), 3-6, 7-6(6)
S Michael Berrer 6-3, 6-4
W Lukas Lacko 6-2, 6-3
# Youzhny saved 7 set points vs Ivo in the 1st set (three at *3:5 & in the tie-break at 4:6*, 7:8 & 9:10)
