   The first all-Australian major final since 1976. Philippoussis [22] committed three consecutive double faults serving to win the 2nd set – then facing a double break point he fired four service winners! He made his 13th and last double fault on match point – Rafter [3] reacted like he won just a casual match in a less important event 😉 Their third meeting and for the third time Rafter easily wins. Philippoussis stated: “You’ve got to hand it to Pat, five unforced errors for the match. At the moment, he’s playing like the best player in the world.” They would face each other just once more, and Philippoussis takes it in straights (Hong Kong 2000)
