  1. Voo de Mar says:
    Points won by each set: | 34-28, 33-21 |
Points won directly behind the serve:
    27 % Hewitt – 17 of 62
    16 % Kratochvil – 9 of 54

The second and last ATP final in [57] Kratochvil’s career. He reached them both in Asia ’01; he was 22-year-old time at the time, so it seemed it’d be a breakthrough period in his career – it didn’t happen though. Hewitt [3] was on his way to become the best player in the world then, and he was merciless against players of his type (aggressive baseliners) like Kratochvil as well as against serve-and-volleyers (more problematic for him were counter-punchers, in Tokyo exemplified it Clavet). The crucial point of the final came as Hewitt faced a break point leading 4:3 in the 1st set; he won a rally he should have lost, it pumped him up.

Hewitt’s route to his 11th title:
    2 Mark-Kevin Goellner 6-2, 6-2
    3 Michael Russell 6-1, 6-1
    Q Francisco Clavet 4-6, 6-4, 6-2
    S James Blake 6-4, 6-0
    W Michiel Kratochvil 6-4, 6-2

    Serve & volley: Hewitt 0, Kratochvil 1/1
