  1. Voo de Mar says:
    Points won by each set: | 33-24, 30-24 |
Points won directly behind the serve:
    24 % Federer – 13 of 54
    21 % Mayer – 12 of 57

It was an unexpected [2] Federer’s trip to the Swedish capital. He didn’t play there for ten years, following his second round loss to Vinciguerra in 2000 (both were teenagers then). Mayer [47] used all his trickery to give himself a chance, and led 4:3 (15-all) on serve when Federer responded perfectly to Mayer’s decent dropshot. Afterwards Federer collected 9 out of 12 games entertaining the crowd with loose dropshots played from no-man’s land, and said: “It’s amazing that I’m there where Pete’s ended his career on. You never know when it’s your last one. That’s why you want to savour every tournament victory.” – at 29 yo, Federer equalled Sampras’ 64 titles (the American finished his career at 31 yo). The Swiss never appeared in Stockholm again for another ten years of his career.

Federer’s route to his 64th title:
    2 Taylor Dent 6-1, 6-2
    Q Stan Wawrinka 2-6, 6-3, 6-2
    S Ivan Ljubicic 7-6(5), 6-2
    W Florian Mayer 6-4, 6-3

    Serve & volley: Federer 1/1, Mayer 4/6
