30 % McEnroe – 29 of 95
16 % Connors – 12 of 78
Connors had won their previous three matches on clay, but before the 1984 French Open semifinal, McEnroe was a huge favorite being unbeaten that year, enjoying a stunning 41-match winning streak. Eight years older American led *5:4 in the opener, but since he couldn’t capitalize (broken at 15), McEnroe took control over the progress of the match winning 15 out of the last 18 games in the 2-hour 11-minute contest.
