  1. Voo de Mar says:
    Points won by each set: | 27-24, 33-40, 52-39, 28-21 |
Points won directly behind the serve:
    18 % Ferrero – 22 of 121
    21 % Agassi – 31 of 144

The first meeting between them and a brutal verification of Agassi’s physical prowess from the 10 year younger opponent whose clay was the best surface. Agassi’s limited movement & speed would be exposed even more the following year when he faced 12 years younger Coria in the quarterfinals on the same court… Ferrero [11] imposed his superiority early on, but when he led 6-3, 1:0* after 36 minutes it started to rain, and the match was suspended for another day. Agassi [4] drew some conclusions how to deal with Ferrero’s heavy ground-strokes off both wings. Nevertheless in the 3rd set Ferrero had a break point at 4:1, and three set points at 5:2, then Agassi almost stole the set as he had a double break point at 5-all, it was his last outburst. In the 4th set Ferrero dominated the court again, and already led 5:1 before serving the match out at the second time of asking.

    Serve & volley: Ferrero 0, Agassi 1/1
