   Their fifth meeting and for the fifth time the best player of the 80s, defeats the potentially best player of the 90s, ten years his junior. For the third time a deciding set was required. One break decided in the 3rd set at 3-all when Agassi [7] led 40/30, yet he lost three straight points due to multiple errors: first he committed two successive double faults not risking second serves, then facing a break point, he indecisively played a serve-and-volley action being caught on no-man’s land, and netted his backhand volley badly. Lendl [1], who applied the strategy of aggressive serves throughout the match (just 33% of first serves in, in the opener), was forced to save a break point leading 4:3 in the decider. “I thought my performance was much better today than it was yesterday,” said Lendl comparing to a match against Connell, “I got the feeling that I was floating around on the court and that’s always a good sign for me.” Three years later they meet in Canada again, this time Agassi prevails, after a match of almost the same duration.
