Korda [14] had defeated all the best players in the world of the 90s, having positive H2H records against some of them (8:4 Stich, 5:4 Edberg, 4:1 Lendl, 3:2 Rafter), except Becker. They faced each other six times, Korda wasn’t even once close to win, albeit one year after the Milan final they played on the same court in the semifinal, and Becker needed 2 hours 40 minutes to prevail due to two tight opening sets (7-6, 6-7, 6-2). In the 1994 final there was 3-all in the decider when Becker [13] suddenly stepped up to get three straight games, serving a 2nd serve ace on match point. 1.5 years earlier they co-created other indoor final, in Basel.

1 Arnaud Boetsch 5-7, 6-2, 6-4
2 Amos Mansdorf 6-3, 3-6, 6-3
Q Cedric Pioline 6-2, 4-6, 6-2
S Ronald Agenor 7-6(6), 6-1
W Petr Korda 6-2, 3-6, 6-3
