   One of Lendl’s [1] brilliant matches at times when he was almost invincible indoors. His 30-year-old opponent Sandy Mayer [18] had a bad day in the office though; despite playing the whole encounter with a serve-and-volley tactic, he was unable to produce a volley winner on his own serve. Lendl’s sixth straight win over Mayer. It was the only Lendl’s peace of cake during the tournament, other four matches were tough for him.
