   Federer became the first man to win the Year End Championships six times (Ivan Lendl and Pete Sampras had done it five times), and at the time it seemed unlikely Djokovic would get more. The Swiss had plenty of opportunities to finish the final in straight sets: in the 2nd set he led 4:2* (40/30), 5:3, had a break point at 5-all, led 5:2* in the tie-break and finally Tsonga fought off a match point with a forehand winner. It was an 11th match which Federer won despite losing an MP-up set. “I couldn’t be more happy, I couldn’t be more exhausted,” said Federer, “Jo sapped every last bit of energy out of me. There couldn’t be a better way for me to finish the season.”
