  1. Voo de Mar says:
    Points won by each set: | 30-37, 38-30, 46-33 |
Points won directly behind the serve:
    35 % Rublev – 32 of 91
    34 % Auger – 42 of 123

Improbable final (played indoors) when the event kicked off because Auger [35] lost his status of a contender to the biggest titles within the past twelve months while Rublev [8] lately experienced a slump losing four matches in a row (what’s very bizarre, three of them in succession with the same ‘4-6, 4-6’ score). Credit to Rublev because he eliminated a double-defending champion Alcaraz, meanwhile Auger’s advancement to the final was achieved in an uncanny style – two Czechs retired against him just after ~30 minutes of play, Sinner gave him a walkover (hip injury).
Rublev began the final committing two consecutive double faults which is unusual, Auger led *4:1 (40/0), but Rublev won that game, and began to play his normal tennis, he had a break point at 4:5. The 2nd set was well balanced, the Russian was complaining a lot, but managed to avoid another 4-6, 4-6 defeat, firmly holding at 4-all. Even though the pattern of the decider reflected the 2nd set, the vibe was completely different: Rublev’s advantage as a server was overwhelming, he was holding quickly while Auger was forced to work hard in each of his service games, and finally at 5:6 he succumbed (double fault on match point). Rublev celebrated on his back, it’s his second Masters 1K title, but the most important one in his career because he needed to win six matches while five a year before in Monte Carlo. “It’s a long match, three sets, many games. I think overall I served well, as good as I could. But from the baseline and the return I felt like there are matches where I do a little bit better,” Auger-Aliassime said. # He always plays tight matches against Rublev, three months before he lost a similar match to the Russian.

Rublev’s route to his 16 title:
    2 Facundo Bagnis 6-1, 6-4
    3 Alejandro Davidovich Fokina 7-6(10), 6-4
    4 Tallon Griekspoor 6-2, 6-4
    Q Carlos Alcaraz 4-6, 6-3, 6-2
    S Taylor Fritz 6-4, 6-3
    W Felix Auger-Aliassime 4-6, 7-5, 7-5

    Serve & volley: Rublev 0/1, Auger 0/2

    # Comparison of their similar matches this year:
    Rotterdam (2R): Rublev d. Auger 3-6, 7-6, 7-5… 2 hours 33 minutes… Total points: 103-106… Breaks: 1-1… (2, 1 points away)
    Madrid (F): Rublev d. Auger 4-6, 7-5, 7-5… 2 hours 48 minutes… Total points: 114-110… Breaks: 3-2… (7, 7 points away)
