  1. Voo de Mar says:
    Points won by each set: | 45-44, 42-37, 10-5 |
Points won directly behind the serve:
    30 % Zverev – 28 of 85
    20 % Tiafoe – 20 of 96

A pivotal rubber for the final outcome of the seventh edition of the Laver Cup, the last one featuring two legends born in the 50s (Borg & McEnroe) as the team captains. Zverev [2] is the most experienced player representing Europe (his 5th edition) while Tiafoe [15] has represented ‘Team World’ more than any other player from Western Hemisphere (also his fifth participation). So these two guys know this specific court (grey colour, slow, low bounce) very well, and the quality of rallies as well as the tension was very high. The American led 4:2* in the 2nd set, but Zverev obtained three successive games with plenty of emotional involvement. At 5-all (30-all) Tiafoe was six points away to clinch the victory for his team third straight year (last year he did it in doubles), but couldn’t play another tie-break (Zverev broke at 6:5 after the longest game of the weekend – six deuces). Zverev, having the biggest experience among active players at playing ‘champions tie-breaks’ in singles (it was his sixth match of this kind), took advantage of the home crowd to clinch the 2-hour 34-minute victory… In the deciding rubber between the biggest guns of respective teams (Alcaraz and Fritz), the Spaniard had been playing his best tennis until he squandered a break point at 4:2 in the 2nd set. Fritz improved to 5:4* (30-all), but then Alcaraz used his magic touch to win a point from no-man’s land, and the last three games went to him.
