   Krajicek’s [10] first win over Sampras [1] in second of their ten meetings. At the beginning of the decider Krajicek’s movement was slightly limited due to sore left knee. The ATP trainer (Bill Norris) rubbed an ointment & it helped. The decisive moment came as Sampras was trailing *2:4 in the tie-break – the Dutchman played his best forehand on that day responding to Sampras’ first serve. On the first match point the American sent his forehand wide to lose the breaker 3/7. That defeat initiated Sampras’ bizarre streak of being eliminated in three consecutive hardcourt events after ‘6-7’ in the final sets!
