It was quite strange, rainy match. Camporese [32] saved break points in his two opening service games while Edberg [2] held twice without any problems. Then came a rain break and the Italian took advantage of it, he was playing brilliant passing-shots to lead 6-2, 4:2* (15/0). Big upset hung in the air, but Edberg managed to finally get a break in the 8th game with an exceptionally lucky return (frame off his BH, the ball was going out, yet hit the netcord and landed on the line!). At 5-all he saved a mini-match point with a volley, at 4-all in the the-break he struck a second serve ace (his first in the contest!), got another point and clinched the breaker 7/5. The 3rd set was a one way traffic, Camporese couldn’t regain his focus. It was the second time in 1992 when he was within a few games to beat Edberg in the quarterfinals of events held in Germany #
