  1. Voo de Mar says:
    Points won by each set: | 47-48, 32-18, 27-21 |
Points won directly behind the serve:
    30 % Federer – 30 of 97
    28 % Youzhny – 27 of 96

2013 it was a year when it seemed the 31-year-old Federer [3] wouldn’t be able to win the biggest titles anymore. His triumph in Halle it was his lone title that season, but in 2014 the Swiss legend decided to change a racquet model of the Wilson brand (he stuck to it the entire career), and in the years 2014-15 he was playing great tennis again… In the Halle final he faced Youzhny [29] for the 15th time. Ultimately their H2H record was 17-0 (Federer has 17-0 also against Ferrer), and what’s quite interesting, the Russian played his best matches against Federer in Halle, even though tough to call Youzhny “grass specialist” (it’s his first/last grass-court final): in 2003 – their match no. 4 – when Youzhny was only three points away from a straight-set victory, then ten years later as there was 3-all in sets 2 and 3, so Youzhny found himself three games away from the title in successive sets. In their last meeting (US Open ’17) Federer survived 6-1, 6-7, 4-6, 6-4, 6-2, but in the 4th set he already had a break point at 4:1, then led *5:2 (30/15) against the wilting opponent.

Federer’s route to his 77th title:
    2 Cedrik-Marcel Stebe 6-3, 6-3
    Q Mischa Zverev 6-0, 6-0
    S Tommy Haas 3-6, 6-3, 6-4
    W Mikhail Youzhny 6-7(5), 6-3, 6-4

    Serve & volley: Federer 2/4, Youzhny 0/1
