  1. Voo de Mar says:
    Points won by each set: | 32-38, 30-18, 25-15 |
Points won directly behind the serve:
    16 % Nadal – 13 of 77
    12 % Coria – 10 of 82

Their third final that year, and on each occasion Nadal [2] dropped a set. He raced to a 5:0* lead in set no. 2 and got a break at 1-all in the 3rd. Coria [6] was only 23 at the time, it was highly unlikely he wouldn’t play another final, yet the year 2006 brought an amazing slump which led to his premature retirement in 2008. Nadal became the first teenager to win 10 titles within a year (Borg won 7 titles in 1974, Wilander 9 in 1983). “I was a little bit more aggressive in the second and third sets and that was the decisive thing, I think,” said Nadal after claiming his second career hardcourt title. “I know I can play on hard courts. I need to improve my game on grass but, if I play well on hard courts, I know I can win a lot of matches.”

Nadal’s route to his 11th title:
    1 Yeu-Tzuoo Wang 6-2, 6-4
    2 Justin Gimelstob 5-7, 6-4, 6-4
    Q Peter Wessels 7-6(3), 6-2
    S Juan C. Ferrero 6-4, 6-4
    W Guillermo Coria 5-7, 6-1, 6-2

    Serve & volley: Nadal 0, Coria 0/2

Nadal played five sets on Friday because his second round match was postponed due to rain
