  1. Voo de Mar says:
    Points won by each set: | 28-23, 45-44, 34-24 |
Points won directly behind the serve:
    39 % Krajicek – 41 of 104
    18 % Costa – 17 of 94

[24] Krajicek’s sensational comeback after a 5-month absence. A week before he had played only doubles in Estoril (w/Meno Oosting), reached the final and withdrew. In Barcelona he got the first title on his least favorite surface, not dropping a set despite facing three clay-court specialists (!), inter alia the best clay court player at the time – Bruguera! Against Costa [19], Krajicek saved a break point at 0:2 in the 2nd set and was quite lucky in the tie-break: he delivered an ultra conservative second serve at 5:6, but Costa netted his forehand from quite comfortable position in the fourth stroke of the rally. In the 3rd set, at 2:1 Krajicek committed two double faults in a row, saw 0/40 only to get five points quickly (3 aces included) and finished the event with an ace.

Krajicek’s route to his 5th title:
    2 Fabrice Santoro 7-5, 6-2
    3 Andrei Chesnokov 7-6(7), 6-3
    Q Sergi Bruguera 7-5, 6-3
    S Ronald Agenor 6-4, 6-2
    W Carlos Costa 6-4, 7-6(6), 6-2
