   The career-peak for the 24-year-old Costa [42]. One week after claiming his maiden title (Estoril) he triumphs in his home club, not losing a set while winning 13 in a row. Both in Estoril & Barcelona, Costa defeated many top clay-courters. Gustafsson [15] led *6:5 (30-all) in the 2nd set when netted an easy overhead. The Spaniard loses the second round in his another tournament in Monte Carlo (12-match wining streak). The Swede avenges the defeat on the same court the following year in the third round (0-6, 6-2, 7-5). Costa will win four titles more, but never as big as Barcelona.
