    Points won by each set: | 40-28, 35-24 |
Points won directly behind the serve:
    45 % Krajicek – 27 of 60
    14 % Woodforde – 10 of 67

Krajicek [13] and Woodforde [61] spent the entire 90s on the tour together, but their tennis destinies intensively crossed paths only within a few months of 1992. Between August and November they played four times against each other with Krajicek triumphing on each occasion. First they met in the Los Angeles final, Krajicek survived 6-4, 2-6, 6-4 trailing *0:3 in the decider. Afterwards the 21-year-old Dutchman easily outplayed six years older Woodforde thrice, emphasising the difference between serve-and-volleyers of the 80s (a technician) and 90s (a powerful server), but their final in Belgium was more balanced than the scoreline would suggest, especially in the 1st set – Krajicek withstood break points in his opening three service games. In the 2nd set the Dutchman built a comfortable 4:0* (30/0) lead, but he needed deuces in the first three games of that set before Woodforde took a medical time-out to his sore left thigh. “This time Richard was the better player,” said Woodforde, who received $84,800 as runner-up. “But there may be a day where I will beat him.” Indeed, two years later they play fifth and last match against each other, Woodforde wins 6-3, 3-6, 6-3 (Los Angeles, semifinal).

Krajicek’s route to his 3rd title:
    1 Wally Masur 6-3, 4-6, 6-2
    2 Grant Connell 6-4, 6-4
    Q Petr Korda 3-6, 6-1, 7-6(7) – 1 m.p.
    S Jim Courier 4-6, 6-4, 7-5
    W Mark Woodforde 6-2, 6-2

When Krajicek arrived in Antwerp to play the first ATP edition of this tournament (1982-91 an exhibition status), he had no chance to participate in the season-ending ‘Masters’, however, thanks to claiming the title he moved from no. 13 to 10, and received a surprising invitation on Sunday evening to fly from Antwerp to Frankfurt because two players higher than him in the ranking (Agassi, Lendl) withdrew. Krajicek made a trip on Monday, and on Tuesday he faced Courier whom had defeated three days before in a dramatic contest, this time he lost 7-6, 6-7, 5-7.
