   The 20-year-old Borg [4] saved three break points at *0:3 in the 1st set, he squandered a match point serving at 5:4 in the 3rd set (already led 5:3, 30-all). For thew 30-year-old Nastase [7], the year 1976 meant his end in the tennis elite. It was his 5th and last major final (record: 2-3). Borg, who seemed to grow an inch or two in stature on court, hit 71 first serves in 112 attempts and Nastase had 69 of 108. “No, I am very happy,” said the 30-year-old Nastase. “This was probably my last chance. It will be very hard for me to concentrate for another year.”
