  1. Voo de Mar says:
    Points won by each set: | 27-30, 32-26, 27-20 |
Points won directly behind the serve:
    31 % Nishikori – 24 of 77
    51 % Isner – 44 of 85

Nishikori broke in the 1st game of the 2nd set & 3rd game of the decider. Despite the balanced scoreline, the Japanese had the final under full control from the beginning of the 2nd set. In the last two sets Isner went to ‘deuce’ only in one Nishikori’s service game. “I didn’t make enough inroads on his first serve,” said Isner. “If you put a decent amount of first serves in the court, he’s arguably the best in the best in the world from the baseline. It’s tough. I thought he served better in the second and third sets. He’s a great player and a great champion.” The American lost the Washington final for the third time in his career (2007, 2013).

Nishikori’s route to his 10th title:
    2 James Duckworth 6-7(8), 6-1, 6-4
    3 Leonardo Mayer 6-4, 6-4
    Q Sam Groth 6-4, 6-4
    S Marin Cilic 3-6, 6-1, 6-4
    W John Isner 4-6, 6-4, 6-4
