   Wilander’s [5] 18th match won in a row (three titles). It was his 12th title ($215,000 prize money of the event), the first one captured indoors. Smid ranked No. 23 then. “I still rate my victory at the French Open as my best win ever. But this might have been my second best achievement, even if I didn’t beat any of the Top 10 players” said the 19-year-old Swede. In the 2nd set he trailed 0:3 (30-all), at *4:5 saved three set points attacking the net on each occasion.
