  1. Voo de Mar says:
    Points won by each set: | 29-17, 34-42, 26-12 |
Points won directly behind the serve:
    20 % Courier – 17 of 82
    12 % Chang – 10 of 78

The Courier-Chang is the most balanced rivalry among those when 20 meetings were required at least (12-12 in the end). The Rome semifinal meant their match no. 11 and for the first time it was a three-setter (!) as well as their first mutual tie-break. Courier [2] was on his way to notch sixth easy win over Chang in succession, but as he led 5:4* (30-all) in the 2nd set, Chang played a great high FH-volley and took the tie-break 7/2. A day before, Chang [10] had been involved in one of the longest ‘2-1’ matches of the 90s as he overcame Chesnokov after 3 hours 39 minutes saving two match points. He was unable to play another 3-hour match and wilted in the decider against the super fit opponent.

    Serve & volley: both 0
