Statistical appendix to bios

Comparing different generations of the Open Era is very problematic due to the numerous changes in rules, technologies, etc. It’s not an easy task even within such a logical framework as the decade of birth, but I’m trying to do something along those lines. Below some numbers allowing to comprehend the real value of particular players juxtaposing them with their contemporaries who were real rivals on the court.

☆ The events known as ‘Mercedes Super 9’, the predecessors of ‘Masters 1000’ were introduced in 1990, but the calendar has been basically the same since 1986 (the first edition of Paris-Bercy) thus I’ve decided to count for players born in the 1960 from the year 1986 onwards those events which turned into ‘Mercedes Super 9’ – I think it gives a bigger picture how particular players performed in the biggest tournaments since the dawn of the graphite racquets common use, considering the ‘best of three’ and ‘best of five’ formats
