  1. Voo de Mar says:
    Points won by each set: | 26-31, 37-36, 33-24 |
Points won directly behind the serve:
    19 % Jaite – 19 of 98
    7 % Prpic – 7 of 89

An interesting match between players who shared very similar qualities playing their best tennis. Jaite [39] was serving bigger, he was also more eager to attack the net, and in the end it gave him a slight edge. Before it happened he’d been in troubles, trailing 3-6, *1:3 – from that moment he improved his game to lead 5:3 (40/15), but needed a tie-break to seal the set. After an early exchange of breaks in the decider, Prpic [41] led 3:2* only to lose the last four games. Jaite got a game for 3-all with a diving volley, in the following game he broke the Croat hitting three backhand winners in succession! He wanted that title badly, in the last set he was stubbornly arguing with the linesman and the umpire (Richard Ings) twice, losing both disputes… Prpic entered the best period of his career with that final, afterwards he reached three Mercedes Super 9 semifinals on clay (!), so he was expected to go far at Roland Garros; in the second round he faced Mancini, a former Top 10er & a clay-court specialist, losing to him in five sets (in total points won Prpic was better: 142-137).

Jaite’s route to his 12th and last title:
    1 Guy Forget 6-2, 6-2
    2 Jimmy Arias 6-2, 6-1
    Q Renzo Furlan 6-2, 6-1
    S Karel Novacek 4-6, 6-4, 7-6(4)
    W Goran Prpic 3-6, 7-6(1), 6-3

    Serve & volley: Jaite 6/16, Prpic 1/1
Fastest serves: Jaite 185 kph, Prpic 180 kph

☆ Jaite two points away from losing to Novacek at *5:6 (30-all) in 3rd set
