11 % De Minaur – 11 of 94
Rainy match with a few unexpected twists. Prior to the semifinal Musetti [16] had spent ~5 hours more on the courts, thus when he lost the 1st set his chances were dramatically decreased, especially that De Minaur [10] seemed to be in a great shape – from the last two games against Medvedev (6-2, 6-2), through a double bagel (!) over Dimitrov, to a 2:0* lead against Musetti, he had won 16 games in a row – a streak unseen at the main-level for a very long time. Because the rain was heavier at the end of the opener, the chair umpire decided to wait a bit longer (7 instead of 2 minutes) with the beginning of the 2nd set – it helped Musetti, who began it with an injection of energy. Admittedly De Minaur improved from *0:2 (30/40) to 3:2, but the quality of Musetti’s shots were different comparing to the first thirty minutes. The Italian managed to steal the set from *3:4, and led 5:3* in the decider. De Minaur moved ahead 6:5 (30-all) then Musetti delivered his fastest serve (215 kph – it was an ace DTT; De Minaur’s fastest 212 kph). In the 7/4 tie-break Musetti obtained the last three points (De Minaur had levelled at 4:4 with a stretch-volley). Half a year later, Musetti defeats De Minaur again being two points away from defeat.
