    Points won by each set: | 42-40, 36-32 |
Points won directly behind the serve:
    30 % Sinner – 24 of 78
    25 % Alcaraz – 18 of 72

Sinner [2] and Alcaraz [1] have been playing in a league of their own since Wimbledon 2023 when Sinner reached his first major semifinal while two years younger Alcaraz triumphed in the most prestigious tennis event for the first time. From that moment onwards they both keep extremely high level, thankfully losing from time to time unexpectedly. In their first mutual “Masters” final someone fainted in the stands at 2:1* (deuce) for Alcaraz, the break lasted 12 minutes hence the set was so long despite the normal amount of points in a tie-break set. The Spaniard had a set point at 6:5 (adv.) but miscalculated Sinner’s second serve and made a backhand return error. Two lobs decided about the outcome in the tie-break: first at 4:3 Sinner lobbed Alcaraz with a technical backhand to finish with an overhead, then at 5:4 Sinner played a perfect FH-lob cross-court to finish an electric rally (he converted his first set point with an unreturned serve). In the 2nd set Alcaraz broke in the opening game (Sinner’s two double faults in a row, his only service game dropped during the week), led 3:1, but Sinner broke back in the sixth game with the help of a lucky FH return which would have been illegal in the 20th Century because he hit the ball with two different sides of his racquet frame. Alcaraz had a game point to play another tie-break, but didn’t convert it, and on the first match point there was a 15-stroke rally ended with Alcaraz’s backhand error – Sinner celebrated on his back. “We are individual athletes but without my team, this is not possible. Celebrating this trophy at the end of the year after such an intense last couple of months, there is no better ending,” said Sinner, “It was a very, very close match. I saved a set point in the first set and I am extremely happy with how I handled the situation and it means the world to me.” Alcaraz has lost only three sets squandering set points in the last two seasons, two of them to Sinner.

Sinner’s route to his 24th title:
    rr Felix Auger-Aliassime 7-5, 6-1
    rr Alexander Zverev 6-4, 6-3
    rr Ben Shelton 6-3, 7-6(3)
    S Alex de Minaur 7-5, 6-2
    W Carlos Alcaraz 7-6(4), 7-5

    Serve & volley: Sinner 1/1, Alcaraz 3/5

  2. Voo de Mar says:
Alcaraz leads 10:6 in their H2H at the end of 2025 (in sets 26:24), but in total points they are tied: 1651 which doesn’t surprise given the fact Alcaraz defeated Sinner twice saving match points, and once after a retirement with just five games played.

Points in the ATP ranking, December 2025:
    1. Alcaraz 12,050
    2. Sinner 11,500

    3. Zverev 5,160

…it speaks volumes about the difference between “Sincaraz” and the rest of elite players
