  1. Voo de Mar says:
    Points won by each set: | 33-24, 25-32, 25-12 |
Points won directly behind the serve:
    34 % Rosset – 26 of 75
    19 % Chang – 15 of 76

Rosset [30] belonged to the most dangerous floaters in the 90s. The moody giant from Switzerland, when was fit and his two main weapons (serve & forehand) were working well, he could beat anyone anywhere. That week in the New York State everything clicked from him, and he pretty convincingly outplayed five quality opponents (in the last three matches Top 10ers of 1993). Chang [7] was actually quite lucky that avoided a straight set defeat in the heat (the Sun was shining so brightly that they both missed a couple of overheads from comfortable positions), surviving break points at 1-all and 2-all in the 2nd set. Like several times in Rosset’s career, his very good tournament was followed by a failure, and a few days after the Long Island title, Rosset suffered a loss in the US Open first round being eliminated by the doubles specialist Woodbridge 7-5, 0-6, 1-6, 5-7.

Rosset’s route to his 6th title:
    1 Ronald Agenor 6-4, 6-4
    2 Arnaud Boetsch 4-6, 6-4, 6-2
    Q Cedric Pioline 6-4, 6-4
    S Goran Ivanisevic 6-3, 6-3
    W Michael Chang 6-4, 3-6, 6-1

    Serve & volley: Rosset 6/11, Chang 0
