De Minaur [8] played his best tennis over the weekend and highly contributed to the “Team World” victory, producing one of the best performances so far in the Laver Cup history (2 singles & 1 doubles win, not dropping a set). Actually I’ve never seen him playing better than he did against Zverev on Saturday, but against Mensik [17] on Sunday, he played at the similar level, wisely mixing up the pace with BH slices and net-rushing. In the last game he withstood a triple break point. “I’m so used to fighting off break points on my serve. I do that for a living,” joked De Minaur, “I’m not a bot like some of the players in Team World.” It was the first edition with new captains: the McEnroe brothers have been replaced by Agassi and Rafter while the Swedes (Borg & Enqvist) by Noah & Henman. In the last, very emotional encounter, Fritz defeated Zverev for the sixth time in a row – the German is the most experienced player in tournament’s history, he felt the taste of winning the clincher a few times before, this time he would have prolonged the tie to a decing 9-game doubles set.
