Points won by each set: | 23-20, 19-11, 16-11 |
Points won directly behind the serve:
25 % Tien – 13 of 52
33 % Blockx – 16 of 48
The two best “20-and-younger” players of 2025, who could participate in the NextGen ’25 edition, namely Mensik [19] and Fonseca [24] withdrew which is understandable – they’ve been fully incorporated into the main-level ecosystem for more than a year. Fonseca had won the title a year before so he had nothing to prove this time. Tien [28] – Michael Chang’s pupil – who had recently claimed his first ATP title, decided to participate, thus he was the main favorite to the title facing seven young men from the Challenger level. The highest ranked among them, Blockx [115] found his way to the final at an easier path than Tien, but in the final the difference between them was clear. The 20-year-old Belgian was amazingly serving in the first set, but lost it in a tie-break, and in the next two sets when the quality of his serve slightly decreased, Tien established his supremacy in baseline rallies – in this department he’s already much higher than his ATP ranking indicates.
Tien’s route to the title: rr Rafael Jodar 4-1, 3-4(3), 4-1, 2-4, 3-4(4) – 4 m.p.
rr Martin Landaluce 1-4, 4-1, 4-3(4), 4-3(2)
rr Nicolai Budkov Kjaer 3-4(2), 4-1, 4-2, 4-2
S Nishesh Basavareddy 4-2, 4-1, 4-3(3)
W Alexander Blockx 4-3(4), 4-2, 4-1
