  1. Voo de Mar says:
    Points won by each set: | 25-9, 35-28 |
Points won directly behind the serve:
    25 % Ferreira – 11 of 43
    16 % Tarango – 9 of 55

Triumphing in Bordeaux, Ferreira [14] entered a short period of his career when he collected three titles within three ATP events he took part in – a unique streak for a player who never reached the Top 5 in his career. The unexpected runner-up, unruly Tarango [117] had been in sensational form before the final (6-0, 6-1 Kafelnikov, 6-1, 6-3 Rosset i.a.) but began it losing the opening seven games. At 0-6, *0:1 (40/30) he raised his arms like he finally felt his body relaxed, and he improved afterwards, even led 5:3, the last four games went to the favorite though. At the post-match ceremony Tarango said he’d enjoyed the week there because drank a lot of red wine. He’d wait five years for his sixth and last final (record: 2-4) – Umag.

Ferreira’s route to his 5th title:
    1 Marius Barnard 6-4, 6-2
    2 Mats Wilander 2-6, 6-2, 6-3
    Q Olivier Delaitre 6-3, 6-4
    S Guy Forget 6-3, 6-7(4), 6-1
    W Jeff Tarango 6-0, 7-5

    Serve & volley: Ferreira 8/13, Tarango 0/3
