  1. Voo de Mar says:
    Points won by each set: | 31-21, 29-18 |
Points won directly behind the serve:
    17 % Massu – 8 of 47
    13 % Philippoussis – 7 of 52

Surprisingly easy win for Massu [11] which gave Chile the defence of the title at the World Team Cup in Dusseldorf, despite the absence of Rios, who prematurely finished his career in 2003. Philippoussis [18] was tired after three demanding “round robin” matches. The Australian had defeated Spadea & Zabaleta saving a match point in the 3rd set, and Schalken being two points away from a straight set defeat! He began the Massu match with pain in the arm, so he couldn’t deliver his powerful serves and the Chilean dismantled him in 77 minutes.

    CHILE d. AUSTRALIA 2-1
    Fernando Gonzalez – Lleyton Hewitt 7-5, 6-2
    Nicolas Massu – Mark Philippoussis 6-3, 6-1
    Adrian Garcia/Nicolas Massu – Wayne Arthurs/Paul Hanley 4-6, 4-6

En route to the title Gonzalez won his all 4 matches, Massu finished with a 3-1 record. Garcia played three times in doubles, always partnering Massu (1-2).
